Nearly 180 million U.S. Internet users kicked back with a computer to watch television episodes, newscasts or other online videos last month, according to comScore, a Reston company that tracks consumer habits. The growing size of that online audience is increasingly garnering the attention of media outlets and advertisers alike.
And it is giving rise to a new set of media intermediaries.
Dulles-based Grab Networks, for instance, helps companies to reach Internet viewers by using its software to distribute video content quickly across thousands of Web sites. Chief executive Fred Singer said the level of interest in his business from potential clients has ballooned in just the last six months.
